Client: G4S Australia & NZ  

 

Project: Onboarding Solution for Port Phillip Prison Correctional Officers

 

The Challenge:

​

The original program at Port Phillip Prison has been unchanged for over 15 years. The classroom-based program offered minimal practical or on-the-job opportunities for staff to apply their learning and was heavily reliant on Subject Matter Experts (SME) to deliver sessions, with no governance underpinning amendments to the content delivered. The structure was reactive, with modules being added as a result of a change or incident, rather than as a result of examining the needs and preferences of the learners and what they needed to perform their roles safely. 

 

People Tank built a fit-for-purpose induction solution reflecting the requirements and duties of a complex and high-risk environment. Detailed analysis and testing conducted by People Tank’s Senior Learning specialist were completed in consultation with SMEs and with PPP Facilitators and Squad Leaders delivering the induction program. The review ensured that training was delivered at the right time for content to be immediately transferred to the on-the-job operational requirements. A core focus of this review was to maximise the learners’ knowledge base in support of the achievement of units of competency relevant to Certificate III in Correctional Practice (Custodial) and improve overall retention. 

 

The Outcome:

With our partnership comes great success! The attrition rate for Correctional Officers at Port Phillip Prison in the 3 months post-completion has dropped from 60% to 9%, providing a remarkable result for both G4S and the induction program that has been developed by People Tank. 

 

New recruits are consistently reporting they feel more confident to perform their role and have gained a deeper understanding of the role prior to commencing in the prison. This is something we couldn’t have done without the People Tank team by our side.

Project: Leadership Development Series

 

 

People Tank’s partnership with Banyule City Council has been an extraordinary one over the past two years. With industry recognition given by Australian Institute of Training & Development (AITD) and being presented as the Diamond Award Winner for Best Learning & Talent Development for Leadership from LearnX, they have set the bar high by consistently delivering high-quality ‘custom’ leadership programs that land for the Council.

 

Designing and facilitating programs targeted to make an immediate impact to leadership behaviours, and the application of leadership on the job. 

 

With 3 tiers of leaders now putting their skills into practise, People Tank continues to raise the bar in our programs by keeping our content fresh, ensuring our values and ideas continually align to the key capabilities of what leaders need to be successful, and to ensure our learning sticks by supporting us through virtual Learning Tanks (group coaching and embedding sessions) to give leaders the continued support, encouragement and guidance, post the formal learning.  

 

Following the success of our partnership, People Tank was successfully awarded to be on our panel of providers. We are extremely excited to collaborate with People Tank to continue to build on their award-winning solutions for the Council. Our team couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with People Tank, and to have Principal Consultant (Tania) leading charge as the master in leadership delivery who takes our Team Leaders on their leadership journey throughout 2023 and 2024.
